My remote does not work on my iMac/iSight G5 anymore.
I have been able to pair it in the past but it keeps getting unpaired. The remote works on other Macs so it doesn't appear to be the remote. What next?

Maybe it's the battery. It seems to still work, but maybe it's not as strong or reliable as before. The other Macs may be more tolerant, or maybe you did not use it with the other Macs long enough to notice the same problem.
Here's a general troubleshooting article.
Thx but I have 3 remotes that I replaced all the batteries & I all ready read the attached artical. I don't think it's the remote. I think it is the IR (maybe there is a test I can do on it) or maybe the software that runs it (another test?)
Well, if you have THREE of them, and they all have the same problem with your iMac G5, that's different... 🙂

Does that mean it currently does work sometimes, but not reliably. Or is it not working at all right now, in any capacity?
If you have not already, try resetting PRAM
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1379
followed by this procedure to reset SMU (power management)
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1767
When you connect it back to power, if it was connected through a "power strip" of some type, I would try connecting it directly to a wall outlet, by itself (at least initially). Don't have any other peripherals connected, particularly USB peripherals (I believe the IR sensor is on the USB bus internally), in case there is some odd device conflict. Power it up take way, and then connect only a standard mouse and keyboard. See if it there is any improvement.
Wow, reseting the PRAM worked. Thank you so much. I didn't have to do anything else.
For some reason, it always surprises me when resetting PRAM actually fixes a problem... 🙂
Thanks for coming back with the outcome.
