I just got a iphone 4s a two days ago and yesterday when I tried to sync it on my itunes it didn't work. I've updated my itunes to the latest version and have also tried shutting the phone and laptop and restarting them again but it still doesn't work. Also, when I tried to sync my ipod nano (3rd gen), it suddenly wouldn't work either and both won't even charge on my laptop.

You might need to restart the Apple Mobile Device Service, as described in ituem #3 at the bottom of this article: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1538. If that doesn't resolve it, try uninstalling iTunes and all of its components as by following this guide exactly: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1923, then reinstall iTunes. You must follow this guide exactly or it will not be successful. Note: uninstalling iTunes will only remove the application; it will not touch your iTunes library or data.
One more thing, you will need to be runnint iTunes 10.5 or later to sync the 4S.
Thanks Randers4, I have tried restarting the amds and uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes and both doesnt work for me. When I plug the nano and phone in, iTunes and my laptop still won't recognize them. Do you know anything else that I could try? Thanks
If the laptop doesn't recognize them it could be a problem with the Apple Mobile USB Driver; #4 at the bottom of http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1538. If that isn't it, make sure your usb cable is good (try another one if you have one).
Thanks, I am able to sync my nano on my iTunes now but iTunes still won't recognize my iPhone. However, now when I plug in my iphone, my computer can recognize but I still can't sync it on iTunes.
