My ipod shuffle was dropped and the screen broke, cracked, and fell ou of the ipod, so now I have an Ipod and and the glass "screen" seperated, doesthe Ipod need to have that screen or is it fine with out it? (the ipod plays songs still)

An iPod Shuffle doesn't have a screen. Perhaps you actually have an iPod Nano?

It may still work some period of time, but the chances of more damage being done are quite high. I would recommend still having it repaired or replaced either by Apple or a third party service.
