Q: How to setup my AirPort for Time Machine use USB Hard disk.

Dear Sir,

 

I brought a AirPort Extreme, I want to use the machine to do time machine and my storage device, My Hard disk is 2Gb and sperate 4 partition, but the Extreme just only detect 3 partition, the time machine partition was not find.

 

Please tell me AirPort Extreme can do this or not, If can, please tell me how to do.

    Time Machine can only backup to a disk that has been formatted in Mac OS Extended (Journaled).

     

    You should also understand that Apple does not officially support Time Machine backups to a drive at the USB port of the AirPort Extreme, so that might explain why you are having problems, even if your disk is formatted correctly for Mac.
