Why no Save As?

Apparently you have to be nice! So any discussion of why Apple would remove the most common function of all word processors in the world, is not permitted.

Let's be NICE then.... this is a common fuction that has been removed and it is costing my company lost time in productivity. We can't find files, we can't sort through "duplicates" and "versions". Common practicies our employees have used on all computers are now not compatible with three of our office systems.

We upgrade to Lion 10.7.4 to get icloud for our phones and ipads, and lose productivity in our office due to lost functions in a word processor.

Apparently Apple doesn't want us to think for ourselves.

Is there as way to restore this common function to Pages???

Apple replaced it with the Duplicate option; however, Apple will be returning its functionality in Mountain Lion, though it may require the additional use of the Option key or another modifier key (e.g., Shift-Command-Option-S) to separate it from the Duplicate feature.

That doesn't help the issue. Strange command options won't fixt the fact that people in the real world move back and forth between several computers. Why would a fundamental function such as this be changed? So the person who works with several computers must save their work one way in MAC Lion and another way in MAC 10.xx? then yet another way in windows?

The easy answer is to do away with MAC. My company doesn't have time to consently be adapting our work patterns to the whim of a programmer in California who has never worked in a typical office. This is causing lost productivity.

Personally, I miss the "Save As" function too and see no reason that needed to be changed.

But the thing is, you're not talking to Apple here, just other users like yourself. All we can do is say we like it or we don't, we can't help you with it.

Yea... I tried that route. I was told that I just needed time to accept the learning curve. In other words, "live with it".

I'm having to be careful expressing it. They've "removed" my prior comments because questioning them isn't permitted.

You can question Apple all you want as long as you stay within the bounds of the Terms of Use.

Since your other posts are no longer avaiable to read, I can't advise you how could have avoided deletion by the Hosts.

No more I can add to your question, except my commiseration.

I have found during my career and life in general that being civil works much better than ranting. I strongly agree with the comment, however, and feel that deleting "Save As" was a major mistake. We'll have to wait a few more weeks for Mountain Lion to see if Apple fixes this as has been rumored.
