I bought my ipad2 about 3 weeks ago in the uk and brought it to Cyprus where there are no apple shops and no service agreement. Now, the home button will not work or works intermittently . Any ideas please? Thanks
iPad 2, iOS 5.1.1
1. Open a stock iOS app, such as Contacts
2. Press & hold the sleep/wake button at the top of your device until the red slider control appears.
3. Immediately release the sleep/wake button and press & hold the Home button. Hold until the red slider disappears. Release the Home button.
You should now be on your home screen and your Home button should be recalibrated! Recalibrating your home button this way should work on your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch.
doesnt work I've done it a hundred times I have had button issues on and off for a year I was going to wait for the iphone 5 to upgrade but the phone is unusable it obviously a wide spread problem i see a lot of postings on the same issue

I've solved the problem. If you can get in to your iPad at all, go to settings/general/accessibility/assistive touch and make sure it is switched on. You then get a home button on your screen. Voila!!!!
That works! At least my touch screen is still working.
