Impossible to say without more info on your setup. Probably you need one or more of the following
• fast external FW 800 drive or eSata drive or Raid.
• more space on the external drive.
But I still have at less 100 g of space left.
Hi Druw77
I have had that for months and months , I have found now a quick way to get around it, but it's not a solution is to press cmd f12 at the same time and then hit render again. I should get you around the problem for awhile but I suspect you need to reboot the software as i have done on many occasions!
Sorry no one has helped me with the solution has yet and seems to be a problem with a few editors I know as well.

Please post exactly what the warning box says.
Are you using any still images in your sequence? If so, verify that the still images are RGB, 8 bits/ channel.

are you sure your scratch disk for renders is set to the external drive? And CMYK graphic images and h264 or other non friendly fcp formats are also ofteh the source of these sorts of problems. Also graphic images should never be larger the 4000 by 4000 pixels.
Trust me, this problem is almost always caused by operator error not a software bug. When it happens to me, it's often cause a client has supplied cmyk or too large graphic files and I've forgotten to check them before editing.
If you've got a lot of sequences, still images, and edits in your project, remember that final cut holds all this stuff in active memory. Stills are only virtual clips until you render them. When a project is complex you can fill up the cache and run out of memory. Often a simple close and restart of the program makes this go away. And a total restart is never a bad idea, especially if your machine has been up for a number of days or weeks.
I had this problem. What finally worked was setting my RT tab to 'Playback low quality' and unchecking 'Scrub High Quality'.
from my experience, go to Sequence, and press render only - and then just the orange bar, meaning render only Unlimited
