Ansering my own question (again): tap the Project name, just like any file name in the Finder, and when it highlights, change away. Simple. Easy. Another brilliant FCPX feature.

You need not go all the way to the finder: simply tap on the project's name in the project library...and you can rename.

Your'e quite correct. In fact, in FCPX, you must always allow the program to change, move, delete and re-name. Never use the Finder. I learned that until background processes are complete for your Project, you cannot re-name it.
By background processes do you mean that circle which reveals the render status showing blue numericals until a green 100 is obtained?
I have at times, midway through a project, opted to rename a project, [not sure whether I had paid attention to the render status] and I was able to do it.

So, do you mean by your: 'cannot rename it' that you should not rename it?
I am myself very new to this whole field of videography and there is so much to learn and would not like to do anything which may result in damage of my work.😀

Yes. It appears that when FCPX is in process rendering, a Project cannot be renamed. Render done, and it's a breeze. Click the name field, it highlights and you change it to what you want. Wonderful.
