Q: New iTunes install on Win7 does not recognize CD drivers
I'm tyring to install iTunes on my BFs new work computer. Having the same issue and many other users...but I still can't get any resolution.
"iTunes was not properly installed. If you wish to import or burn CDs you need to reinstall iTunes."
It cannot burn CDs, but it does import...sound familiar?! I attempted to reinstall and fix (but as you all know, and I now know as well, that doesn't fix it).
Based on searching the Apple forums...I ran the diagnostics. Sigh...I still cannot find a solution.

Based on the diagnostics and clicking on the "help" button on the diagnostics window: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1567?viewlocale=en_US
I noticed the following and did the following:
Error:
CD Driver Not Available
CD Driver DLL Not Available
Based on https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4060111?start=0&tstart=0 I checked out http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2308 (see below)
I tried everything in http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2308 :
Resolution 1: Drivers were up to date (ugh) - note on this...I clicked the "update drivers" and it said it was up to date. I know this is not always accurate when it comes to NIC cards, so I tried looking online and I couldn't find anything. The current driver version is 6.1.7600.16385 (6/1/2006).
Resolution 2: afs.sys and afsk.sys do not exist (double ugh)
Resolution 3: There are no GEAR driver software in regedit (triple ugh)
Error: No drivers in UpperFilters.
I tried manually installing the filters: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3299
This made it worse, the CD drive was no longer even recognized and I had to undo changes and for good measure, I reapplied (is that the right terminology?) the backed up regedit.
I did a lot of other searches as well, but these were the ones that seems to fit the best with regards to my issue. Please help!! I hope I missed something.
