We have had the same problem in our household since Monday on all of our iDevices. Everything worked fine on Sunday night, next time anyone tried, on early Monday evening, YouTube wouldn't load videos on any of them.

iPad1, iPad2, iPhone3Gs, 2 Iphone4, iPhone4S, iPhone5 all on iOS ranging from 4.3.3 to 5.0 to 5.1.1 to 6.0

**Everything ELSE about YouTube (in any different YouTube App version and m.YouTube.com) works fine. The only problem is VIDEOS WON'T PLAY. We can log in, manage playlists, view and see searches, featured, top rated, etc. we can see video information, title, # views, run length, rating, poster, comments. Everything about the Apps (old and new versions) works fine *except* when we choose a video to play the video playback area is either black or black with the YouTube Logo and the circular wait cursor, scrub bar stays at 0:00 of 0:00 on the time and the video will never load, sometimes bringing up the PopUp "This movie cannot be played" or the like.

Interesting to note is that YouTube Videos WILL play if the phone is put on Cellular Data and WiFi is turned off.

With Cellular Data turned on and WiFi turned off the YouTube Videos play just fine instantly with no lag, buffering or playback issues.

I've tried the WiFi set up with WPA, WPA2, WEP, No Security, and on two different WiFi Routers with the same results.

So it's actually a YouTube-Wifi-iDevice issue not just a straight YouTube iDevice issue. It's not iOS 6 that's the problem. I think a lot of confusion in this area is being generated by (A) iPhone5's WiFi issues and (B) Apple "removing" the YouTube App with iOS 6. So for the large part I think everyone's glossing over this issue assuming we're idiots that can't find the icon or download the new App. But I've had this problem on all those iOS versions on all those devices with the original App, the new App, and at m.youtube.com on Mobile Safari.

Also of note, on WiFi, (in any configuration) where YouTube does not work, videos from other services *do* work just fine including Netflix, Hulu, Vimeo, iTunes Videos, iTunes Video Samples.

Bingo. Invader Q describes the issue perfectly. I'm having the same issue. It all started very suddenly on Monday the 1st.

Our household also has iMac, MBPro, Gen3 and Gen4 iPod and iPad2. Two iPhones as well. All mobile devices (iPad, iPods, iPhones) have been updated to iOS6 except for Gen3 iPods. YouTube over WiFi does not work for any of the mobile devices, including the Gen3 iPod. Get the "Loading..." and spinner, but no video playback.

I tried disabling security on my router (Belkin) and tried manually assigning IP's to all the devices with no luck. It's probably not the router.

The videos *will* play with iPhones using 3G in Safari and the new YouTube app. I can then switch to the preferences, turn wifi back on, and the video will still play in Safari or the YouTube app. So, once it's going, it will continue when switching back to wifi. Starts and stops OK too, just won't start a new video from the beginning.

My iPad and iPods are wifi only, so I can't try same thing with these devices. None of them will play YouTube in Safari at m.youtube.com or at any other sites that link to YouTube. I've downloaded a half dozen "alternate" YouTube players from the App Store, and none of them worked either.

All other video streaming (Hulu, Netflix) that I use work fine on all the mobile devices while on wifi.

This has to be a wifi/youtube issue with mobile devices. iMac and MBPro work fine. I DID have to uninstall and reinstall Flash player on iMac. Since then, no problems. The dusty PC in the upstairs spare room is looking more attractive. Don't see how Apple could have messed up this badly.

One more thing to try is another wifi network at a friends house with another ISP. If the same problem happens there, I know it's with the devices and the youtube/wifi combination. Sheese, what a PIA!

Had the same issue (message 19869110). So looking at some oooolllld posts from over the years, I tried one of the suggestions of adding "8.8.8.8" to my iOS device's DNS for the wifi connection. It now suddenly works, including pre-iOS 6 native YouTube app, m.youtube.com (Safari, Opera and Chrome), and the official iOS 6 YouTube app. It's a serious pain to do this for EVERY individual network I connect to, but it's at the least a temporary work around.

Beauty!! Thanks for this tip! So far I've tried it on the i5 on 6.0 and iPad1 on 4.3.3 and it worked instantly!

Thank you so much for tracking this down. I'm going to post a link over to here on the YouTube Forum in hopes that maybe it helps the YouTube Devs track it down and squash the bug.

For anyone needing to know exactly where to put the 8.8.8.8, I found this page that includes a screenshot...
