Q: TC set up malfuntion

Hey guys,

 

I am setting up TC and in the process I'm asked to assin an IP address, not know what address to use I push through without it. Now I'm getting an eeror

messege that says " Airport has a self assigned IP address and will be able to connect to the internet".

 

How do I get back to that set up and what IP address do I use for the correct set up?

    Not enough info.. are you plugging the TC into an existing router.. if so just bridge it.. so go to the manual setup, internet tab, and pick connection sharing.. off bridge mode.

     

    If the TC has to be the main router, then just leave it on default dhcp.. not not fix the WAN ip address and leave the LAN ip on default.

     

    If you are not sure what I mean.. start by just hitting the reset for 10sec.. wait to the TC is running and see if it works at default. If you have a normal setup, in 75% of cases it will just work... maybe have double NAT issue but work.

     

    We certainly cannot tell you IP address without loads more info.. sorry that is impossible to ask on a forum.

     

    Tell us exactly what other equipment you have.. what broadband modem.. what service?

     

    Is this new to add the TC or has it failed?

     

    Do you already have a router?

     

    What is it and what do you want to achieve with the TC?
