quadro fx 4800 for mac driver

We are trying to install/update to the NVIDIA 270.00.00f06 driver for the PNY Quadro FX4800 for Mac on our MacPro 3,1 with OSX 10.7.4. The system tells us "No Driver Update Needed for this System", and will not allow driver to be installed. Can anyone advise if the current driver is automatically installed or provided by Apple Updates. If not can you provide proper instructions on how to properly update the driver. Also how can we confirm what driver version is currently installed.

Hatter,

Thanks for info. We had previously found that supposedly the correct dirver for the "FX 4800" is included with Apple Software updates (via Nvidia site). Is that your understanding? A further questions would be "Does this also update the CUDA driver?" The last one we installed was the Cuda 4.0+. Any in formation would be appreciated.

I don't understand what else - you already redownloaded and got the newest CUDA driver or not?

Pretty straight forward. Whether there are bugs in drivers and CUDA is another matter.

Hatter,

We had downloaded a driver from nVidia back in May and it would not install, that's what started all of this.

We re-downloaded again (270.00.00f06) a few minutes ago and did the update/install and all went as advertised. We also re-downloaded Cuda driver (4.2.7), and install with no errors or messages.

Apparently there was some issue previously that would not allow drivers to install.

Issue resolved.
