Cannot access my youtube account on apple tv

I am having the same problem. I bought my Apple TV on Saturday and have tried to connect it to my YouTube account several times since. Every time I get the "username/password not recognised" message.

Anyone got any information on a way to get around this? It's a bit of a pain.

There is no workaround. I deleted my youtube account because you can login with your Google account. But Apple TV won't let you login with your Google account. So you have to create a new Youtube account. But while doing that, Youtube asks for a Google account name, and if you try to use your own Google account name, Youtube say's: account name already in use. So if Apple does not solve this problem, wel will stuck for the rest of our lives with it.

Not true. Mine works just fine with the Google login, as it does for most. Try doing some other troubleshooting first if you haven't.

I tried everything, but I can't login with my Google credentials. Maybe a firmware problem? And as I told before, I removed my Youtube Account, so the only way for me is to login with my Google credentials.

Yes that is strange, but as I said I am also using Google credentials. If it was firmware it would be more of a widespread issue. If I come across anything I will post

I just wasn't aware anymore of the fact that I enabled two step verification in Google, so I had to generate a new exclusive verification code in Google for my Apple TV. After generating the code and filled in on Apple TV, I just logged in with my Google Account. Thanks fot your responses!

Hi, be aware of the fact if you enabled two step verification in Google. If so, you have to generate a one time exclusive code for every new mobile device, in this case your apple TV. After generating the code in Google, fill in your Google account details, and use the exclusive generated code as password on your Apple TV. I had the same problem, but it works for me now.

Only one strange thing, I cannot see my subscribtions on Apple TV, while I can see them on my Imac while logged in on Youtube with my Google credentials. So maybe it is still neccesary to have a Youtube account, connected to a Google account?

Hmm, I don't know. My account simply transitioned and I got a notice to login with the Google credentials. Logged in on the device and nothing had changed. Be aware that you aren't viewing the full site through the ATV.

I've had the same issue but enablig the two step verification in google didn't work for me... any suggestions?

Yeah ive tried just my Google login details, and 2 step verification (which is ridiculously confusing and complicated) and neither have worked. Did you find a way to login to YouTube yet?

He was saying that if you ALREADY have two step verification on then you would have to go though those extra steps. Not that you should turn it on as a fix to the problem.
