I cannot get Airdrop to work on an older MacBook.
I cannot get Airplay to work on an older MacBook, ca. 2007, even though I recently had Apple install a new hard drive, 4 Gigs of RAM, and Lion OS X 10.7.4. Any suggestions?

Yeah, I read that, but was hoping that the new hard drive and program updates would make a difference. I suppose the main board is the issue.
A new hard drive does not do anything as far as updating firmware or logic board limitations - sorry. I've used it and it really is only good if you are close to the other Mac because you need to authorize the sending on one and then authorize the receipt on the other (or you have one person on each Mac).
Is it possible to replace the firmware and/or logic board? Any idea of the potential cost?
Not sure about a Macbook, but on an iMac, the logic board replacement is $800+. Besides, even if you did that, it would have to be replaced with the same thing, so it would not help either.
I know you want to try to make your machine work with it, but unfortunately it simply is not possible.
