How to recover Contacts after MobileMe to iCloud upgrade?

Your contacts should've been moved to iCloud automatically as part of the migration.

Did you not backup your contacts as advised before the move?
Could not access Mobileme. Had to have Apple support assist upgrade. We just deleted Mobileme and activated iCloud. Only backup was done on iTunes a week ago, prior to iCloude upgrade.
You've never backed up your contacts from your computer at any point before the upgrade? No Time Machine (if you're a Mac user)? No system backup?
I have indicated I have backup s in iTunes. They have been executed p[rior to the Mobileme to iCloud transfer. Are you telling me that these iTunes backups don't count?
The backup in iTunes is just of your phone and includes most of everything that was on your phone when you backed it up. It cannot be restored selectively - you have to restore the whole phone from the backup.
You should always maintain regular backups of the contacts and calendars that are synced via iTunes with your contact and calendar applications on your computer (as part of your regular computer backup routine). That way you can just restore what you want from the most recent backup.
I assume that the regular backups of the contacts and calendar only work on a Mac PC. I have Comcast as my ISP and eMail provider. I have not had an options to back them up seprarately. Your recommendation is that I restroe my entire iPhone from the last iTunes backup to recover these files?

No, you can backup contacts and calendars on a Windows PC. There are many backup options for PCs, but you would've had to set one up. Don't you backup any of the data on your PC?

There's no guarantee that the iTunes Backup will include all your contacts, as noted in the support article above, you're supposed to maintain backups of the contacts in the contact manager you sync with.
Sorry for the delay. I lost the chat feed. I backup my PC using Norton and my eMail contacts are backed up by Comcast, regularly. I would be very happy if I could back up my iPhone contact list with my Comcast eMail contacts and calendar. However, my understanding is they are not compatible? I will read the support artical and pray I get most of both my calendar and contacts. I assumed (incorrectly) my sync'ing my iPhone with iTunes was my regular backup.
I did a quick scan of the support artical link you sent and it indicated it basks up canendar and contact data. Was there a specific reference in the artical you wanted me to see?
Just went to verify I have my Apple backup directory on my Windows XP PC. It's not there? Hopefully that is not where my iPhone backup is located?
