trying to restore new hard drive from time capsule

just had a new hard drive installed on iMac (10.7.4) and am trying to restore files from time machine via Migration Assitant. Problem is that migration assistant does not recognise my time machine external drive. I see my time machine external drive connected in Finder. Any suggestions how to restore my iMac from Time Machine? thanks
