How do I save a 'trimmed' .mov file

Hi, we have shot some video that are now .mov files saved on my HD. I need to open them, trim/edit them and then re-save to load up on Prezi. When we go to save the trimmed version, all we get is a .m4v that says teh file cannot be saved.

Any help would eb appreciated as we are trying to met a deadline.

With gratitude,

Are you saying you want to edit and save the original data with modified in/out points in its original compressed format to its original file, save the edited data to a new MOV file container in its original compression format, or save the edited data to a new file container in a different compression format? Do you insist on using QT X for editing? Do you have QT 7 Pro installed or a third-party editing/conversion utility like the free MPEG Streamclip app?

I actually solved it by buying QT7 Pro however, when I now open the video, its a green screen and I cannot trim the video - any ideas?

Have read that some users say their screen turns to green on playback and remains green. Others indicate the screen turns green only when playback is stopped. Have not been plagued with these problems on my system, so I can't really say much on the subject. Do you have the same problem editing with the free MPEG Streamclip app and/or do you have a lot of system processes running simultaneously with you attempts to edit?
