Why won't my iTunes update to 10.6.2? I check for updates and then click 'yes' to download the latest version but then nothing happens?

So I have a similar problem - could not update to 10.6.3 itunes - keeps saying corrupt file - so as per b noir downloaded 10.6.3 directfrom apple.com/... and now am wondering if installing that will wipe my existing movies songs and settings held by 10.6.1 ???
What did you end up doing?
What I ended up doing is calling Apple and asking them to help me over the phone as a one-time courtesy which they did. But in the end they had me install the newest version of iTunes over my old version. I too was worried that I 'd lose everything but I didn't lose a single thing. It worked perfect. It took a long time to install it and there were several things to click that I don't think I could do on my own. But the Apple rep was helpful. Please don't rely on me though. Contact Apple.
Thanks for this - in the end I backed-up and then installed the download and it installed perfectly over the top of my 10.6.1 - not lost files or settings.
TRY THIS ...
When you check for updates it opens up the box and there is a button that says Show More and it provides a list of all the things Apple is trying to update. Unselect everything else but keep iTunes checked. Then proceed with the update. This worked for me.
