Q: Hooking Apple TV (2 gen) to Sony Bravia HDTV.  HEMDI Tv to HEMDI Apple TV.  Will not go through surround sound system. Have to switch to TV speakers.  Any suggestions.

I have a very similar problem with my Samsung HDTV, cable box and Yamaha soundbar system.  In my case, Apple TV works ONLY if it is connected directly to the TV and played through those speakers. Cannot use a splitter or switch connecting several HDMI devices.  The ROKU in my other place works much better.

I have old and new ATV you should be able to run all sound to amp (sound system) first then to the T V. Unless you soundbar doesn't work that way, then I remember Sony having a in and out jack for using separate audio control. Hope that helps,my first time replying.
