Creating Apple ID without credit card

Hi,

How can I create an Apple ID to use on Itunes without a credit card? I want to get free apps for my ipod touch.

I don't want to go through giving my serial number just to contact Apple support.

I searched Google for an answer, and many people say an Apple ID can't be made without a credit

card but I know that's not true. Many people already have. The closest I've come to making an Apple ID

is clicking on a free app in Itunes, and then I start making an Apple ID account, I click "none" for payment,

and I enter address/name, and when I click next is says "Please contact Itunes support to complete

this transaction."

I read the Apple support article "HT2534" and it's not valid based on my experience, because

after I click "none" and fill in name/address, it says to contact "Itunes support" as mentioned above.

I won't tether my credit card information to my serial number and iPod because I want to read pdf

files on my iPod with privacy.

When I want to buy apps, I already have an iTunes gift card to make payment, but I can't use it

without an Apple ID.

Help.

Hi imwright29,

Thanks for your answer, but I'm afraid it doesn't work. I tried everything you mention - free app, download, apple ID, new account - but when i click "none" for payment and fill in name, address and click next, it says I need to contact Itunes support to complete the transaction. It looks like it worked a few years ago, but not now.

I'm really frustrated about this and am starting to question if I wasted all my money on the ipod.

Sad.

Hi,

I am very desperate now. In order to use my Apple ID, Apple is asking me for my credit card details, but I do not really want to give them. I read about Apple having problems to provide security for its OS Lion, Mountain Lion and others. I have tried to update my operating system to Maverick, but I cannot, because I need to provide the credit card details in order to download, use iTunes or iCloud. I read this thread and others several times trying to find a solution. I have done everything mentioned here and there, but I cannot get rid of the stupid request. Believe me, I have been on this since November 2013.

My iPhone was stolen recently. I could not synchronize it with my other gadgets and my MacBook because of the same issue. First question the police asked me was if I had installed the application to track it down. They could not believe that Apple was asking for my credit card details; they even made feel embarrassed. But, it is true. Some customers can use their Apple IDs with no credit card request, others like me, get a lot of trouble from Apple.

Why does Apple require this information to download freeware? Can they not just do as the other smart companies that require this information only when the customer wants to actually BUY something? Does Apple need smarter people? Yes, I know you would say that Apple is not charging for freeware, but really, that is not the issue. Sensitive information should not be shared for no reason.

Can someone from Apple help me with this? I am now seriously thinking about selling all my mac gadgets and move to Android, Windows or anything more customer friendly.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi. Mine is iphone 5C too and have experienced the same thing. I already have an existing apple id account that i created thru my iphone and verified thru pc. Then I try downloading apps from the AppStore but upon signing in, a popped up message appear saying "your apple id has not been used in ItunesStore.. please review your account etc.." and when i reviewed my account there goes other requirements i need to fill in like payment method and billing address. I dont have a credit card and there's no "NONE" option and so I tried to skip it by clicking next but did not work. And so I thought of going to Itunes Store since the message implied that I should use my apple id first in ItunesStore. I just open the ItunesStore and click the "sign in" and then the same popped up message appear but I continue anyway and then this time there's already a "NONE" option and so no need to give a credit no.,gc no. etc. Just click next and a message saying "Congratulations" will appear. You can now log in freely on your iphone with your apple id 😀

(From the Phone/Ipod/Ipad)Without having signed in with an apple ID...try to purchase a free app, when it comes up asking you to create a new ID or use and an existing ID, Create a new one, put in the info it asks on the first screen. On the second screen, you will see the option for none.

*Note* You have to first try to download a free app or it will not work, not sure why apple made it like this, but these are my findings.

You will always be prompted for credit card info if a credit card payment method is selected (the default selection for new AppleID's is Visa).

The payment methods are displayed as a row of logos (Visa, Mastercard, Amex, Discover, Paypal) at the top of the credit card info section. The very last logo in that row says "NONE." Select "NONE" and Apple will stop prompting you to enter credit card information for your account.
