Q: Creating Apple ID without credit card

Hi,

How can I create an Apple ID to use on Itunes without a credit card?  I want to get free apps for my ipod touch.

I don't want to go through giving my serial number just to contact Apple support.

I searched Google for an answer, and many people say an Apple ID can't be made without a credit

card but I know that's not true.  Many people already have.  The closest I've come to making an Apple ID

is clicking on a free app in Itunes, and then I start making an Apple ID account, I click "none" for payment,

and I enter address/name, and when I click next is says "Please contact Itunes support to complete

this transaction."

I read the Apple support article "HT2534" and it's not valid based on my experience, because

after I click "none" and fill in name/address, it says to contact "Itunes support" as mentioned above.

I won't tether my credit card information to my serial number and iPod because I want to read pdf

files on my iPod with privacy.

When I want to buy apps, I already have an iTunes gift card to make payment, but I can't use it

without an Apple ID.

Help.

This no longer works. Apple seems to have patched this, FORCING you to enter a credit card no matter what after iOS9. They still have the none option, but it's not actually functional. If you try to choose none, it just reloads the page with a message telling you to contact iTunes support, which in turn is just going to tell you "Enter your credit card, then remove it from the account afterwards". That's not a fix, but hey, that's Apple for you.

The none option appears when you are not logged into an account already, and you attempt to download an app. Then you are prompted with "login/create account". You would click create account, and a none option should then be available.

The only problem here is Apple seems to have made a infinite loop that you can't get out of UNLESS you input a credit card. The "None" option is just a phantom button now. Like the close button in an elevator.

No, Apple does not have a fix for this problem. I ended up putting in my credit card information, and then immediately removing it. It has been this way for years now, and despite how many tickets people submit to Apple about it, Apple still refuses to fix it, so I'm assuming they want it this way. I'm assuming this is their tactic to get people to spend money on iTunes and the App store. I wish they would just tell you that though instead of wasting everyone's time by creating the illusion that you can actually select the "none" option. But it's a false button, just like the door close button in most elevators.

Didn't read all the pages so I don't know if this has been mentionned, but I had the same problem - then I edited my Apple ID and replaced it with another e-mail to which I have access - it sent me an e-mail to verify, I did, then all of a sudden the none option appeared with the "new" ID. (I then switched back to my original e-mail address - which I also thought would not work but did just fine)

    Maybe just luck...?

you can make an Apple account without entering your billing details. Normally Apple asks for the billing details because a lot of applications are paid on Appstore but I followed the instruction explained in this website and made one for me without entering any billing details.

This worked for me tonight:  12-26-15:  On my computer I weent to iBooks, then I chose a book under "Classics" (many of these are free) and chose a Dickens book and clicked to get it , then I had to click on create an apple ID and I filled out name and password and questions etc then the next screen asked for payment information and I clicked "none" and it told me I would have to provide this information should I ever want to buy anything, gave my street address and clicked and it sent me an email verification so went to my email clicke don that and there it was an Apple ID without having a credit card.

The reason for the $1.00 charge is to verify that it is a valid Credit Card.

The $1.00 charge is to verify that it is a valid card and should drop off your bank account after several days.
