HA!!  I get it now. You're 14. It all makes sense now. When you grow up you can get whatever phone you want. until then, you have to use whatever your parents bought for you on their shared plans.

I have an iPhone and a Blackberry and I actually use the radio on the Blackberry it works well. Blackberry included FM radio on some models rolled out in the past while, 9310/9315/9320/9360/9380.

It seems the capability was always there in the chipset of certian models but was not enabled until OS 7.1.

I'm sure I'll get tons of flames about posting anything about Blackberry here. Anyways the link I came to post is a survey at Crackberry.com asking about people's use and preferences toward FM on their smartphone. Unfortunately I can't find a comperable survey for the iPhone. It appears that it is a feature a fair number want and use; the survey represents  8,183 total votes.

Yes as ridiculous as it may sound you're going to be flamed by those of us who do see brands almost like religion. I don't see myself anything else than idevice right now. But I can definately appreciate other brands advantages.

And for that I guess I''ll get flamed and called troll by the Apple forum extremists lol!

They need to allow this. The ability to recieve FM signal would be an additional add on to the deviece for little additional cost. This technology would not be as useful to pick up radio statiosn, but more for hard of hearing at a confrence. This way they can hear a speaker and not have to use an new device. you can also use for a party where the audio is only on the iPhone via the FM, help keep down sound level, but you can hear the DJ spinning or talk as you like. The whole idea is the technology is there. DO NOT stiffle it, embrace it. Let people with the creativity to figure out how to use it find a market for it.

Tell you what. Start your own company. Build your own smart phone with an FM radio built in. Sell it. Let us know how that works for you.

Looks like you just got a taste of flaming now did you? Some unfortunately show a creepy tendency to flame upon constructive feedbacks about features that would be nice on Apple devices.

I find post very interesting and to be honest never thought about such usage.

Unfortunately there's a good chance that it will never see the light of day. Only way that such feature may happen is if third parties get implicated.

You know what now that I think about it you never know...

After all it's Apple who said that iPad size was perfect and yet today we have the iPad Mini...........

Apple also said that 3.5' inches iPhone display was already the perfect format and yet look what happened to iphone 5.......

I believe that the more people let Apple know about the need for a FM receiver the better are the chances that this get realised.

"Unfortunately there's a good chance that it will never see the light of day. Only way that such feature may happen is if third parties get implicated."

Third parties already make such accessories.

And his points are maybe interesting but hardly a reason to redesign a product.

Once again, the answers have been given. Any more "but what if" scenarios serve nothing but to continue the same responses over and over again. One person's reason is no better than another person's. It doesn't add any more validity to the actual answers.

I couldn't agree more. Please do let them know: http://www.apple.com/feedback

Which was one of the solutions, btw.

By the way don't listen to naysayers... Forum rules say that providing constructive feedback about product features is ok. ;-)
