Q: Item availablity in the UK iTunes Store.

Hi,

How can I find out when an item is available to download in the UK iTunes store?

Specifically, Falling Skies Series 1 TV Programme?  It is available in the US store.

Many thanks.

Use search in iTunes or AppleTV.

There are many things available in the US store that are not available in the UK.

    They also have more content.

US prices often seem cheaper too to me.

Apple have to negotiate distribution rights in each country separately so you will see many differences in stores across the world.

    Hi Alley Cat,

Thanks for the response! I've read on forums that you are able to switch countries and pay for items in that country, but you need to have a local credit card and billing address (for my case a US one), if I'm correct.

I can't see a place where I can add an item to a future release wish list like you can in Amazon, for example.  Or a place where I can ask Apple/iTunes for release dates for the UK.

I can purchase the DVDs from Amazon, but want it on my iPad to view when I'm travelling in an airplane or on a train.

    Mark.

Correct.  You also need to be physically in the country at the time of the purchase:

"The iTunes Service is available to you only in the United States, its territories, and possessions. You agree not to use or attempt to use the iTunes Service from outside these locations. Apple may use technologies to verify your compliance."

Once you purchase an item, you can of course take it anywhere.

The iTunes Store has a request page:  http://www.apple.com/feedback/itunes.html

Be aware that the Request page functions as a "suggestion box," not as a "special order," and there is no guarantee that the item will ever become available.
