cannot install upgrade for iweb

I have upgraded my iMac last December and bought the new 27inch one.

It came with iWeb, that I have been enjoying for years, and used it to upload my Web pages.

I also transfer my self in to iCloud few months ago, and that also seemed to be well. However, I realised that iWeb was not uploading my web changes yesterday. I did a quick search on apple support web, and seemed like I still could upload my web pages by inputing the FTP details in the "site" page. However, my "site" page was BLANK! So, I looked at my version of iWeb, and it said 2.04. The sofware info page said that it was the most recent version. However, on the apple web, I saw a 3.04 version, with an "upgrade to" button. Downloaded it, and tried to install it...

It denied saying I did not have a qualifying copy installed.

So, then, I called apple supprort, and the person I talked to, said that appple stopped supporting iweb!

Now that was a BLOW!

What to do?

Version 3.x is from iLife '09.

If you really need it, you can find copies on Amazon. Make sure you're getting a new, sealed copy.

You'll also find iLife '11 on there, and possibly cheaper, but I don't think it includes iWeb.

After a quick trawl on UK Amazon, prices seem about the same for '09 and '11.

From the descriptions on the entries, '11 may include iWeb, but I'm still not certain of that. Need someone who has it to tell us.

Either way, the versions of iWeb and iDVD (the other major application dropped by Lion) are the same as the '09 ones.

'11 does have updated versions of iPhoto, GarageBand and iMovie. However there has been some criticism of some of those updates - iPhoto particularly.

I have ordered the ilife 11.
I already had bought garage band, and imovie, iphoto from appp store, but i did not realise, apple had quit updating iweb...

It costed me 27gbp to buy the stuff I had already bought just to get an app, apple decided not to support... just like that.

I am not sure it all will solve my problems, but once I have it installed, I'll let you know...

I also wrote an official complain letter to apple...

Two apps they no longer support! Don't forget iDVD, which is (was) the best app of it's kind on the Mac platform
