After upgrade to Lion hdmi output not allowed. Help please.

I discovered that when I remove the cable from the headphone jack, the hdmi output sticks.

Sometimes I need the headphone output, and sometimes hdmi. Before I could leave them both plugged in.

At least I can use hdmi, but it is pain, because the back of the Mac Mini is in a different room from the front.

Any suggestions?

Yes, I did do that, and I unplugged the Mac Mini and held the off button for 15 seconds. No change. Pete

Thanks for the idea, but same thing. It would only work when nothing was plugged into my headphone output. Any other suggestions? Pete

After a visit to the Genius Bar and a return call, I have a solution (I hope).

First, he said the sound source is not selectable if something is plugged into the headphones--it just goes to the headphones. He said it should not have worked before the Lion upgrade either. But that's neither here nor there, because it does not work now even though it worked before.

He said to get "iMic" which plugs into a usb port and has a headphone output. This becomes a selectable source.

I only have one usb open, on the keyboard, but he says it is a low power device, so it should work just fine.

I'll be back here if it doesn't work. If it does work, consider it solved.
