I just noticed a red light on my logic board by the marker 'D55'. I'm not sure if it was there before or not, everything seems to be working fine, but does anyone have more information what the D-55 light is for on a Power Mac G4 GE?
PowerMac G4 GE 1ghz OWC, 1GB SDRAM,
Mac OS X (10.4.5)
"There is one red LED on the Power Mac G4 (AGP Graphics) logic board. It indicates that there is power to the board and does not imply a fault condition. Hardware such as DIMMs and PCI cards should not be installed or removed when the LED is on."
Yep... I have had my GE for about a month and the first time I saw the "red light" I wondered if it was a "trouble" light... So I asked in much the same way you did (different forum). Then I dl'ed the service manual and did some reading...
Well, like I said, I just got this mac - I'm new to this. I set it up on a desk and saw the reflection of the red led in the dark, wasn't sure if it was always there. thanks.
