Which phones can be sent text messages?

Pretty much all of them. My kids have np problems with their assorted phones.

On the iPad the Message app will ONLY send iMessages to other iOS Devices (iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch) that have activated iMessage.

There are 3rd party apps, such as Free Text, that will allow sending text messages in SMS format to other devices.

"iMessages". Not "text messages". My Nokia using son has no problem receiving texts.

We are in the iPad forum, the iPad natively ONLY does iMessage with the Message app, it doesn't do SMS. As I said they would have to get a 3rd party app that relays to send an SMS text.
