Q: SSD upgrade?

I just ordered my SSD yesterday i got the clone kit. Is it ok to clone it or should i use lion internet recovery? I am going to be backing everything up first andvthe reformatting new drive and do i need to worry about trim? I got crucial m4 256gb. When i remove i will not erase it as i can use it as a backup.

MacBook Pro (13-inch Late 2011), Mac OS X (10.7.4)

A:

You can but you have to create a lion usb recovery drive since you're new drive doesn't have anything on it.

good show - good luck - and if your boot time is slow on first boot - go to system preferences - startup disk and select your ssd as the startup disk then reboot.

Everything seems to be working fine. It is really fast:)
I am about to do some work to pt it through its paces. I may run Tech Tool Pro on it later to see what it says.

So far so good. It has been super responsive and I can't believe how good it works. This will be a pleasant improvement!
I will run Tech Tool Pro tonight to see what it says. Otherwise, I think I am good to go.
My only concern will be re-establishing Time Machine to a replacement drive I will clone my previous Time Machine backup to.
Thanks again for all your help. I probably couldn't/wouldn't have done with out you.

This Time Machine info looks perfect. I will use it as soon as I get my replacement drive and hopefully everything will run smoothly.
