Hi Guys!

I'm a first time user of iWeb - currently creating my website on my computer (not yet uploaded to a host site) - however I've noticed that some of the new pages I'm creating are not appearing within the SITES folder - does this mean that these pages will appear when I'm finished and ready to upload to a hosting site???

And can someone explain why they aren't appearing - I only have 17 pages, fortunately the pages that aren't appearing are can be linked and I don't want them visible - however, in order to work on the html of these pages - I need to find them in the SITES folder! Please Help!

iWeb '08, Mac OS X (10.5.8)

By SITES folder are you referring to the website folder in the left hand pane of iWeb? Like the 'Site !" folder in this screen shot?

Or are you referring to a Sites folder that you publish to on your hard drive? If it's the latter then you must use the Publish âž™ Site Changes menu option to get any newly added paged to the published site on your hard drive.

If that's not what you're referring to describe in more detail what it is and post a screenshot of what you're seeing or not seeing.

Hi Old Toad,

Thank you for responding!! 🙂

It's not the screen shot one I'm referring to, it's the SITES folder on my Hard Drive, all the other pages I've created are the there - but not the more recent ones, all the older pages I created are there in duplicate = A Page File and a HTML Page, however, none of my new pages are appearing anywhere in the Hard Drive although they are in iWeb, with names and working links to the older pages.

I would like to add some scrolling images etc to these newer pages - and the tutorials are instructing me to alter some code on the HTML pages but as I can't find them = I'm stuck!

Plus I'm wondering if these pages will load when I'm ready to have the website hosted.......I'm a total novice to this stuff so apologies in advance if I'm not being clear but I've attached pics to try and add some clarity.User uploaded file

All the pages above were created about 2 weeks ago but I've since added a couple of pages which aren't appearing above but are in iWeb.......

The Top 3 pages are NOT appearing in the Sites folder in the Hard Drive......Or any new page I create.

Do you use File âž™ Publish Site Changes? If so have you tired a File âž™ Publish Entire Site to try to force publication of those new pages? And check to make sure it's still publishing to the SITES folder and no some other folder.

Here's a basic troubleshooting fix that you can try:

  1. delete the iWeb preference files, com.apple.iWeb.plist and com.apple.iWeb.plist.lockfile, that resides in your Home(User uploaded file) /Library/Preferences folder.

  2. go to your Home(User uploaded file)/Library/Caches/com.apple.iWeb folder and delete its contents.

  3. User uploaded file

  4. launch iWeb and try again.

I've opened the pages via both - PUBLISH ENTIRE SITE & PUBLISH SITE CHANGES - to my local folder and the links I've created from the older pages to the newer ones work, however, yet as explained the pages don't appear in their own right.

I'm not sure what to delete (if anything at all) as the com.apple.iWeb.plist.lockfile - doesn't exist - I couldn't find it where you directed me to look for it, nor could it be found via a general search of the computer.

The only sub ;plist' I could find was the one in the PREFERENCES folder.

This what I see within the Home/ Library/Cache/icom.Web folder.........

and this is what is in the Home/Library/Preferences folder........

Any other suggestions?.........

Well Old Toad, I did as instructed and still no change - it's exactly as it was before, The new pages haven't appeared within the HOME > SITES folder........Does this mean when I do publish to a Host that these new pages and the links that I've created will not work there?.......If that is indeed the case it's pointless me continuing to create the site within iWeb isn't it,.......I've done so much on it I REALLY can't bear to start from scratch! Or to learn another CP format for that matter!

Another possible fix:

1 - create a new site in iWeb.

2 - drag each page from the old site to the new one. (You'll have to create at least one new page in the old site so you can move all of the other pages to the new site).

3 - publish the new site to the folder.

If the new site includes all of the pages you can delete the old site, rename the new site to that of the old site and continue.

Hello Old Toad, just thought I'd update you......

I was able to start a new site in iWeb and all my pages showed up in the SITES panel within the Library SITE area Great! THANK YOU SO MUCH - I never would have got there on my own!

But I did find that if I just DUPLICATED the page they didn't appear in the Library Site, what I had to do was ADD A NEW PAGE, then copy and paste the info in - took longer but hey I really didn't care!

I have encountered a new problem though which is - that I can't seem to add any HMTL text directly to any of the Index pages using text edit - I've followed amny tutorials but none of them work for me - I don't have the funds to buy photoshop or dream weaver or anything like that but I would love to have some sort of flash on the site.....Any suggestions as to what I can try?
