iMac won't power on, no whirs, beeps or anything.
There is just nothing. Like its dead. I changed the fuse and it came on but died again and I have no more 10amp fuses to try. Any ideas anyone?

Are you always trying the same outlet? I wonder if the wiring in the house is technically sound.
Is it the same Apple cable supplied with your iMac that you're using?
Does the cable appear to be damaged anywhere, any visible cuts or pinches on the cable?
Have you tried other power outlets in the building and get the same results?
Please try an SMC reset, you don't need power to do it, http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964. Take note of your model in the article and follow it.
Does the fuse at the end of the cable keep blowing out?
Do other appliances work from the same affected outlet without issue - be careful when testing this please.
You may want to test the iMac in a different building to isolate where the issue comes from, politely ask a neighbor if you can test your iMac at their location.
This may be of further help as well, http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1587
I hope this helps.
Tried it on a different socket (this time at work). And the same happened. Worked for a while then the fuse went. I tried a different power cable and again the same happened.
Just need to try the reset, if you think it will be worth while?
Thank you for your help :)
It's likely the SMC reset was done while transport to work.
These are the SMC reset steps for an iMac, they were done by virtue of moving the mac to work.
At this stage I imagine there is a power supply issue with your iMac, especially if you having nothing to report in terms of physical damage to the Apple supplied power cord.
Contact AppleCare and they will let you know what the nearest service center to you is.
Or if you plan to go to an Apple Retail store for an evaluation, you can visit http://www.apple.com/retail/storelist/ chose the country though. It's a step by step process.
If you prefer an Apple Authorised Service Provider (AASP) visit http://www.apple.com/uk/buy/locator/ choose the country first.
Call Apple and they can set up the appointment at Apple Retail or over the phone they can find the nearest AASP for you.
I wouldn't reset SMC now, I would take it in. It could be the power supply or some part of the power system that is faulty.
Where ever you go, retail or AASP, please have them document on the service sheet the cosmetic condition of your computer so you get it back in the same condition you left it in.
I would not try anything else at this stage so that you avoid further damage.
If you did hear the startup chime, it means you mac is in good health, it's just the power system on board that is faulty. The startup chime means the mac passed a low level hardware test called POST (Power on, self test.)
If you feel that the incident is cause for concern, in that it's a safety concern contact AppleCare immediately, they are obliged, probably by law to take such a call on any Apple branded device, regardless of age or warranty.
Thank you for your help. I've booked in with the spoke store. They were also very helpful.
HI Cris
Glad I could help. If there is anything else I can do just reply.

Hi Cris
I have the same issue you described. Out of interest, what was the cause / solution advised by Apple?
thanks and kind regards
Kate
