Siri for iPad 2 in iOS 6

Why can't apple get Siri to iPad 2 ,seriously come on it has a A5chip and it is quiet powerful if an iPhone 4s can have it ,which still has a A5 chip?and in ios 6 they give the new iPad Siri and not iPad 2. I'm seriously I'm so disappointed with apple.i hope in future it comes or why not just in ios 6.0.

I completely agree with original poster. I have no idea why Apple have ommited Siri from the iPad 2. The iPad 2 has almost identical specifications to the iPhone 4s (The phone which Siri debuted on) and still is behind the iPhone 4 in getting it (if ever it does get it).

Unbelievably disappointed in Apple. Was contemplating swapping Android for an iPhone with the new iPhone 5, but this has soured my taste with Apple. Will more than likely invest in a high end Android now.

Also to people wondering why people are upset that the iPad 2 isn't supporting Siri - the iPhone 4 is a lesser device technically than the iPad 2. It's processor is a generation older and is single core, not double. The iPad is on par with the iPhone 4s, yet doesn't get this update.

Baffled right now. The only thing this has done to my iPad is removed Google Maps (which I will download and use primarily once available in App Store) and removed YouTube, forcing me to use either the browser version, or a crap iPhone scale up.

Oh and thanks for the alarm clock Apple...a bit late to the party, probably because you didn't have an alarm clock before.

Rant over.

I am sooooooo ****** OFF at this. I spent alot of money to get my Ipad 2 when it came out only to find there was a new one the next year....that didnt bug me too bad. But now to find out that my Ipad 2 cant run Siri ........Well that just PISSSES me off even more......UNEXECEPTABLE!!!

That's horrible. Your iPad ran Siri since the day that you bought it but now it doesn't. You have every right to complain. After all, you probably purchased the iPad only because it did run Siri. Apple really pulled the rug out from under you.

Are you for real...? I am well aware that you're being sarcastic, but how does it make sense for Apple to release it on every device after the iPhone 4 BUT for the iPad 2?

The iPad 2 has superior specs than the iPhone 4 and 4s, yet both of those devices get it? There is absolutely no sense behind this move by Apple.

Also there should be some comfort in knowing that a device you buy is somewhat future proofed for at least 2 years, especially when you spend €500 on it. It's not too much to ask that an incremental software update is indeed that, and packs all the features for which it promises. No Passbook even?!?! I wanted to see what that was all about...but alas all we get is Google Maps and YouTube taken away (not even available for download yet)...awful update for any iPad 2 owner. Stick to IOS5

So two things, you haven't actually read the specs on the iPhone 4S and you haven't read anything in this thread, you are just blabbing out your uninformed opinion with nothing to support it? Because first, the iPhone 4S will run circles around the iPad 2. And second, as stated way to many times in this thread, the iPhones 4S has the Audience technology specificly targeted at Siri performance and the iPad 2 does not.

No Passbook even?!?! I wanted to see what that was all about...

Then read about it on the internet, it is an iPhone only app because it is for POS payments and such, where one doesn't usually have an iPad in their pocket to whip out and purchase something similar to when you use a wallet. The size of the iPad makes Passbook use impractical.

But why not include Siri and/or Passbook anyway? After all they were listed as features of IOS6...which I downloaded and did not get. Surely it is far more beneficial to have them as options then to not have them at all?

I completely disagree with your point that the iPhone 4s has the audience technology for Siri use. I would feel far more comfortable talking to my iPad in the comfort of my home than to my iPhone in public, as would many other people.

Also, I have done my research on both the iPad 2 and the iPhone 4S and the iPad has superior specifications, so please don't call my opinion uninformed. I know about the technologies I'm talking about.

Just to counter your point that the iPhone 4s would run circles around the iPad 2

The opinion is not only mine. It would only make sense that a device that has a 1GHZ A5 Dual Core would be faster than an 800MHZ A5 Dual Core...simple stuff really.

So when someone spends $500/€500 on an iPad they should expect nothing more than what it comes stocked with, and apps that are only available at time of purchase?

I'm sorry, but consumer devices should have a period for which it is supported, especially when lesser devices receive said upgrade.

Apple never announced that Siri would not be coming to iPad 2 so excuse me if I feel hard done by upon download that the flagship feature is wholly missing despite all the hype about it "Coming to IOS6 devices"

Sep 19, 2012 5:38 PM in response to dazziola1990

Hey! Fanboy! I'm glad your not running Apple, you imply that nobody should expect features and updates?!?!?

Are you high? When you pay for the device you are paying for the upadates and the features because your paying the engineers? I thought that much was a no brainer.

While you can't force Apple to giv eyou the updates it is not unreasonable to expect them for the life of the device or at least 12 months.
