Siri for iPad 2 in iOS 6

Why can't apple get Siri to iPad 2 ,seriously come on it has a A5chip and it is quiet powerful if an iPhone 4s can have it ,which still has a A5 chip?and in ios 6 they give the new iPad Siri and not iPad 2. I'm seriously I'm so disappointed with apple.i hope in future it comes or why not just in ios 6.0.

iPad 2, iOS 5.1.1, iOS 6

Thanks to Deggie for attaching that link. From all the postings in this thread, you are the only person who has provided an actual answer that backs up Apple's choice (monetary reasons aside...) If it's true that "There is no way via software to add a new feature to a chipset", then this discussion should be over. If the original poster was asking (as I think he was) why siri won't work on iPad 2 (I don't think, as some posters here do, that the original poster felt "entitled" to upgrades "forever", he simply wanted a logical explanation, which has been hard to find) then I think Deggie's answer puts this thread to rest.

Ya know, I saw a big Grande vanilla latte on the Starbucks menu. Asked what it was made of, was told espresso, 2% milk, some pumps of flavoring. Ok. Sold. NOW, however, I have heard all about the health benefits of soy. So now I want a SOY Grande latte. Guess what, For that change to soy, I have to pay extra. Wait a darn sec. No one told me I had to pay extra for Soy. Dang. Well, ok, it was told to me that a Grande vanilla latte had espresso, 2% milk and flavoring. No one promised me when I bought my first latte that soy would be available down the road, but not with this latte. or if I wanted soy, I woul pay more. No, they told me what a latte was at the time I bought it. I agreed to those ingredients and paid my money. So now, I WANT the SOY and not the regular so now I pay the $XXX to get what I want.

Hey. That sounds just like my iPad 2. NO ONE at Apple said it had Siri. Or that I could get Siri as an upgrade or that that I would have to pay for Siri later on. Nope. I read the list of "ingredients" (specs on the box) - I accepted what they said the iPad 2 was at the time and I paid my money. Now I want Siri. So, just like the SOY, I pay for what I want. And come here and read all these whiny a55 comments from "loyal Apple fans" -- you all sound like some of my cusomers who don;t bother to read the specs on the products list but buy it anyway and then come cry foul and make a big stink when told that is NOT included in the box, etc. Own UP. Do your homework, due diligence and pay your money for what the product is TODAY if that is what you want. Don't pay your money hoping for tomorrow's "free" upgrade or whatever .... TODAY'S market place aint your gramma's marketplace. It is all about Today you pay for today and tomorrow, if you want it, you pay tomorrow. Free free free aint free buddy. SOMEBODY pays for 'free upgrades" 'free shipping" and all that other 'free baloney". That somebody is YOU. That is why you pay $4 for a Starbucks that costs $1.78 to make and $829 for an iPad that costs $400 to make. Yeah yeah yeah I know all about greed and profit. But we love our toys and we are right there on opening day with our money in hand. If we didn't buy it, they couldn't make it. So pay up and shut up. PS this is not a reply to anyone, no matter what that header says. I had 2 cents laying on my desk and I am putting it in here.

iPad 2 and proud of it. 64Kwifi - no smart phone, no 'droid ... just me and my ipad2. Well, except I have all other kinds of techie stuff and computers under the sun all the way from Basic to Windows 8 - Happy enough until Xmas. Then lordy, look out.

The iPad 2is capable of having Siri I just tested out my google search engine app and they record my searches correctly some times it might put a more popular search but you can click the right search right under what they thought you said. It had a 90 percent success rate 9/10 to be exact the one wrong I said zach wheeler it gave me zach miller but I tried later and it gave me wheeler on the first try. I even tried "I have to do my groceries" "i salaam alaikum" "who is the best basketball player in the nba" plus more. With that there is no telling me the iPad 2 is not able to work on the iPad 2. Rest my case.

Of course they want your money. They wouldn't be in business if they didn't. However, Apple has set the precedent of upgrading every device they possible can. In fact, in their WWDC presentation, they bragged about the number of devices running iOS 5 and compared that % to the percentage of Android devices running the latest "dairy product". It is reasonable for people to expect the upgrade from Apple. This is one of the reasons their devices are so popular and will remain so. If you buy a device from them, you aren't stuck with the same old features. For this you pay a premium for the device. Face it, Apple products are more expensive than any other product. But, we pay those prices expecting the upgrades. iPad 2 is not an old outdated device. If possible (I emphasize this), they should get the upgrades as well.

I have two iPad 3's and one iPad 2. I will say that the iOS 6 upgrade across all three devices was less than stellar, but on the iPad 2 it was all but non-existant. Basicall all we got on the iPad 2, was the loss of You Tube and the addition of turn-by-turn at the expense of Google Maps. Without SIRI turn-by-turn is not very exciting.

Even with this dissapointing release, I will continue to purchase Apple products as long as they continue to provide me with the level of support and upgrades that I have come accustomed to. Hopefully this release isn't a glimpse of things to come from the new post-Steve Apple.

General comment to the whiners:

If you like and want a cheeseburger, you have your choice -- McDonalds or In and Out Burger or Red Robin or whatever burger joint floats your boat. Same with the vehicle you drive -- Toyota, Audi, Cadillac. Each has their own specific features and upgrades included in the price. You either buy it or don't. Next year, there is a new model. Every year. Clockwork, new model. New upgrades, new interiors, new exteriors. YOU decide, buy or not buy. If you buy a Toyota and Cadillac has come out with a better design, why whine about the Toyota? Go buy a **** Cadillac. Same with Apple, new year, new model. You buy it or your don't.

I like having new and shiny things. So I upgrade my techie stuff every year. I could care less about my car so I drive my same old Ford. *I* do my homework. I know WHAT I am paying my money for, I read labels and specs and ask questions -- whether it be the new iPad, or an app or the can of gourmet soup on the grocery shelf. That is my "right" and *MY* responsibility as a consumer.

Yeah, Apple wants your money. So does Google, Samsung, Microsoft. Otherwise they would all be giving their products away for free. What part of business ecomonics did you miss in class?

I think Apple added the clock to time how long it would take the whiners to start their complaining that they didn't get Siri (eye rolling in effect) ....

I miss the YouTube icon but to tell the truth, I like the new Google YouTube app better now that I have tried it last night. For 3 hours. Sheez. **** YouTube and their cat videos!
