"Principle"? Seriously. THAT is what you choose to make your stand on principle? So, what kind of hopelessly sheltered life do you live.

The iPhone 4s A5 chip includes the technology listed below, as does the new iPad. The iPad 2 does not include it.

There is no way via software to add a new feature to a chipset.

THAT is what you derived from my post isheep? How on earth did you get the assumption that my life is hopeless and sheltered. Is it because I purchase products and refuse to bend over backwards? I challenge you to post something technical against my claim of principle that does not include assumptions about my life or the type of life that I lead. Thank you very much.

    I just did.

Thank you for forwarding that article. I have not found those specs to that degree and found it quite informative. I still won't accept less than better consumer driven practices by apple. As for Siri, I guess it's just the way it is then. Thanks again and have a great day!

I'm not the one equating the lack of a piece of functionality on a legacy device to some twisted  matter of principle. If you need to take a stand on "principle" at least find something worthwhile.

  • divad_08 Level 1 Level 1 (0 points)

Lol. The fact that you refer to it as a legacy device says it all and it obviously shows that you will simply accept what you get from your legacy company. I on the other hand refuse to accept substandard decisions from a company that touts perfection and I feel that there is nothing twisted about that logic. Demanding significantly more cost (from customers) for a product that is brilliant, beautiful, simply works and is better than all the rest, unfortunately comes with consequence for the company. The consequence is the demand from the customer to stand and deliver in every way. With that being said we are clearly at an impass in this conversation. I will accept your logic as is rather than insult it like you have chosen to do to me and wish you a nice life.

  • Kilgore-Trout Level 7 Level 7 (29,260 points)

So, how is that "refusing to accept" and "demand from the customer" working' out for you? No one guaranteed anyone purchasing an iPad 2 they would eventually get Siri. Wasn't even in the mix in any way, shape or form. You can play the indignant consumer all you want, but in the end it's nothing but white noise.

And what tangible way will this "refuse to accept" the lack of Siri take place? Will you just speak into the iPad and pretend it has Siri? Stop using your perfectly good iPad because it doesn't have Siri?

  • Laxman25 Level 4 Level 4 (2,260 points)

Deggie, I dont get it? I dont want to get hammered here on siri should be for the ipad 2. Its not SIMPLE! End of story. I cant change that. But the Ipad 2 does have the A5 chip. The Ipad"3" has A5x. The x part being its just a tad "higher" to support the SCREEN ONLY. So would infact be able to handle siri easily. Same chip. Thats what i dont get about what you posted a few above? Am i wrong

  • Laxman25 Level 4 Level 4 (2,260 points)

My view is it adds to a futher want for an upgrade besides a new screen. Smart to make more $. I was about to upgrade my ipad 2, but weighed the differences. I went to the store and looked at the new ipad. Screen is nice, but is it reallly a necessity? Ipad 2 screen is nice too. The Ipad 2 was a huge difference to the Ipad1. Ipad 3 to 2 not so much besides the screen. Now you have to weigh siri in the mix. Might set some people over the top to upgrade, which is why i think apple is doing it. Ive decided to wait for the next Ipad to come out. Both arnt game changers for me to justify it. I had to ask myself how much I would actually use Siri. On my phone which I have more with me than an Ipad, I never use it. Am I going to be sitting at home asking Siri to check a score for me, when i just can select the ESPN app? No. Its NICEEE to show people, but thats all i would do. I understand for some visually impaired people it is a huge difference. Thats me anyway. Don't attack me hahaha Im not disputing anyone! Just the ? I have about deggie's post.

  • deggie Level 9 Level 9 (51,235 points)

Did you actually read the article? The iPad 2 has a different A5 chip than the iPhone 4s although they are both stamped the same. Reason: that is what is in the article, the 4s includes the audience chipset, the iPad 2 does not. You are correct the x has to do with the screen but the A5x in the new iPad also includes the audience chipset.

  • Laxman25 Level 4 Level 4 (2,260 points)

ahhhh icic. Yeah i read it, but I still saw the Iphone 4 stamped with a A4 chip. The a5 was for the Iphone 4s. The Ipad 2 has a5 as well. I thought it would be the same, but guess not. The A4 chip on the 4 picture is what threw me i guess.

Many people like you are not happy with Apple's decision. Actually you can write a complain letter to CEO office of apple instead of posting questions here.  This is only a user-to-user forum and many members of the forum have a very strong fatih (a kind of worship) in Apple and questions like this easily provoke overly-heated arguments.

  • Laxman25 Level 4 Level 4 (2,260 points)

i was just confused because everywhere you read articles saying the chips are the same(4s and Ipad2). Like this one

    http://www.tuaw.com/2011/10/08/why-siri-should-and-probably-will-come-to-ipad-2/

Regardless, its not(sir) coming. Going back and forth on it is pointless. I gave up Thanks
