I want to open .pps files on my NEW Ipad WITH SOUND!!!!
My 8 year old PC can do it! Why not this new AMAZING gadget?! I have keynote, which opens the pictures but without sound! what else works?!

There is no native PowerPoint application for the iPad, and many PowerPoint animations (including sounds) lose their functionality when transferred to another operating system. The reason your 8 year old PC can do it is because it has Microsoft PowerPoint - there is no such program for the iPad.
Quickoffice will open and edit PPS files. I'm not so sure about the sound effects. There are limits on the iPad to MSO products. MSO is coming this fall to the iPad so you may want to wait for this.
I should have been clearer in my post - yes, there are apps that allow you to view and even edit PowerPoint (I use Documents to Go), but my experience has been that animations and sound effects don't carry over to the iPad.
