Jul 7, 2012 9:14 AM in response to snagglepuss31by joefromsyracuse,Yeah I have the same problem. It's small and towards the bottom but given it's retina and over a $2000 computer I might have to take it in and get it replaced.

Jul 7, 2012 9:51 AM in response to snagglepuss31by Shootist007,I suggest you do return both. For some unkown reason Apple has not figured out how to run any external monitor on any of their MBP line. Windows PC do it without problems and most if not all allow you to turn off the internal display even if it is left open. And you can clone the desktop to the external display and have it set to a different resolution at the same time. Not sure why Apple can't figure this out.

Jul 7, 2012 10:03 AM in response to snagglepuss31by ahmad_aljallad,apple guarantee their LCD 100% ok without any problems they will replace it but the problem here is because its bright spot according to my knowldge it happened when you drop laptob or maybe some one dropped it while storing in apple store, for me I had single one small dead pixel and they replaced the LCD immediately they refused to replace whole MacBook Pro but they ordered new LCD so I am waiting for it

Jul 7, 2012 10:07 AM in response to Shootist007by snagglepuss31,I have sent both the MacBook pro and the display back. Phone support could not fix the problem with the thunderbolt display. I plan to drive (90 mins) to the nearest Apple store to have them show me the combination fully working before I buy again. I spent over $3k on the display and notebook and I expect them to work without have to reboot or reset them every time I turn them on...

Jul 7, 2012 10:21 AM in response to snagglepuss31by Shootist007,Now if more people would do that maybe Apple would get the message.
Back in 2002 with my then new Dell i8200 I had no problems connecting a 21" CRT monitor and have the internal display shut off automatically when that monitor was connected and when it was not connected had the internal come on. I'm still using that computer today and sometimes with that same monitor and to this day when I connect the monitor and turn the system on the internal display goes off and the external comes on.
When I first got a Mac and did this I had all kinds of problems getting the external to work correctly and then I found out there was NO way to turn the internal display off without closing the lid. I said WHAT, Dell and Windows had this figured out years ago.

Jul 7, 2012 11:34 AM in response to snagglepuss31by Maziyar,If people coming here for a bright spot on a MBPR screen, maybe you should see this thread which is going on too. https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4042189?tstart=0
My opinion: replace the whole machine not just a screen! use your 14-day return policy, do a full refund and order another one if it's necessary. Repair the LCD or replace it with the new one it might be good if it happens after a year or even two years but not for one-month year old machine! They should s.uck it up and replace the whole thing and do the d.a.m.n QA better next time.
Thanks and good luck
