The answer I gave you was based on using Keynote for Mac not iPad. Sorry. You didn't specify and you posted in the OSX area.

The iPad version of Keynote is less robust and may not work with your GIF files - the way to check is to select one of the gifs then tap the animate option and look for a Start Movie option in the Build In tab. If you can select a Start Movie option, then try playing the movie using the play triangle in the upper right.

If that doesn't work, the the gifs may have to be converted to a useable for for the iPad (.MOV, .MP3, MPEG-4) using third party software - a search of the app store might help.

The inspectors on your iPad are there but disguised - the 4 icons on the upper right are Styles (brush) - that allows you to modify attributes of a selected object such as color, font, position, etc., it is contextual so will vary depending on the object selected; Insertion ("+") - this allow you to insert shapes, tables, charts and media (images and movies located in the Photos library); Tools (wrench) - this menu allow access to transition & builds, sharing and printing, a find feature, your presenter notes, some advance settings, and MOST IMPORTANT OF ALL - the HELP File where you can learn how to use your Keynote application.

The Help file and the Getting Started presentation are the best way to learn how your Keynote works.

Good Luck,
