Moving Music to iPad without Computer
Sister-in-law has new iPad. She doesn't own computer. How can we put her CDs on her iPad? I can rip her CDs for her, but how can I put them on her iPad without associating them with my iTunes?

You can't.
That's a bummer. Wonder if there would be a workaround with the new IOS.
Could I add another login account to my Mac, rip the CDs in that iTunes, then sync her ipad to that just to put her music on?
Yes. you can add music from another conmputer. See the instructions here:

Assuming she has an AppleID, or you create one, and add it to your iTunes, yes you should be able to. And technically, you could simply manage her device with your iTunes account, but probably not the best solution.
Thanks. I may have to try that workaround for her. She doesn't have internet at her home either. She has the ipad with the data plan. That's her "computer".
Well, she's going to need your help with future iOS updates as well. You no longer need iTunes to do the updates, but you do need WiFi.
First, my handle (whine) is because nothing else seems available. And it fits my mood this evening. So I am stuck with this for the rest of my Apple life.
Similar issue to webkat. My 83 year father-in-law has an iPad which backs up to the ICloud and no computer with a bunch of CDs for his music. I tried the suggestion from lllaassusing the link Using iPhone, iPad, or iPod with multiple computers. The problem is you can not get to the summary screen. Lion and iTunes 10.6 wants to reinitialize my father-in-law's iPad. And his iCloud access wants to mess up my iCloud on my computer when I tried to use it to upload HIS CDs, so I can not link into my Apple ID. Apple may be making great advances in opening the market and bringing in the non-computer generation (and helping the elderly...he likes Facetime but can only answer the call, not make one!) but its paranoia on protection is creating a barrier.
Does the Apple moderator have any suggestions? Or does the wider audience have a non-jail-break suggestion? (He is a retired Chief Master Sergeant [One Chief, One Base]...you DO follow protocal and procedure! )
Help!
From a son-in-law who has now spent 7 hours trying to figure out how to load up the Chief's @$%&! music
The path of least resistance is to create a user account on your computer for your father-in-law. Log into that account, sign it into his iCloud ID and basically treat that account as if it's his "computer" for the purpose of loading it up. Since it's its own user ID, it shouldn't cause you any trouble to have the icloud credentials be different so long as you do not enable 'find my mac' with that account.
