Q: I can't install a version of 5.6 alongside 6.2, so no access to legacy airport express

according to apple, you can have both 5.6 and 6.0 side by side. 5.6 for the older airport express, and 6.2 for newer devices. But I can't install 5.6 and 6.2 won't control or modify the older airport express's. Any thoughts?

I cannot find any version of AirPort Utility 6.2 on the Apple Support site. Do you mean AirPort Utility 6.1 here?

Please check to make sure that you are downloading AirPort Utility 5.6 for Mac OS X Lion

You are likely trying to install AirPort Utility 5.6.1....which will only run on Snow Leopard and Leopard.
