Screen will not turn around

Settings > General > Lock Rotation..

or...

Double-press the home button...

Swipe to the right until you get to the Portrait Orientation Button...

Did you really do that? You are sure that you checked the side switch and the task bar? Do you see the lock icon in the upper right corner of the screen because if you do see it, the screen orientation is in fact locked.

If you're sure that the screen is not locked ....

Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
