Hey guys, I'm going to head over to the apple retail store at the mall right now and was wondering how I'm supposed to get my hands on the 100 dollar giftcard? Do I just simply mention to the salesperson that I'm a student and that I should get 100 dollars off the macbook pro and a 100 dollar giftcard? Or do I just mention I'm simply a student and they do everything on their own from there?

Your student discount on a computer should be more like two hundred dollars and it qualifies you for the 100 dollar app gift card. I am a teacher and bought a rmbp last Wednesday. You just have to show student id to verify that you are a student. I had to show my teacher cards.
you can do it online. scroll down at the bottom of apple store page, you will see education store. click there and type your school name on school search bar. That's it. if you buy any macbook pro you will get discount $100 and free $100 back to school gift card .😉
If you don't have a student ID for your institution, any way to verify you are enrolled at the institution is fine. For example, I didn't have my Student ID card for my Uni when I bought my Mac, but I could log on to the payment system, and that was enough for the Genius.
