i have a microsoft office 2008 for mac and have 3 license but bought the new macbook pro with retina display where do i download it so i can put in the license key?

I'm not sure that Entourage will work with the new MBP-R. You can give it a shot, but I had trouble with it running under Lion and just had to buy 2011, with Outlook, to have an integrated mail/calendar/contacts app.
But like I said, try it and see... but be aware that you may have to upgrade.

I had no issues at all with Lion, but the retina display may be different, and the download is a trial, the OP can try before licensing it.
No, if you got it working under Lion (I couldn't for whatever reason) it should work with the MBP-R. I don't know about Mountain Lion, however. We'll just have to wait and see. But, as it is a 30-day trial, the OP can at least give it a go.

If you have access to another Macbook or PC with a CD/DVD drive, you can copy the entire contents to a USB Thumb Drive.
Then you can install from there.
But Csound1 has a better idea of downloading it. Just make sure you download the one the goes with your License Key.

Err .... no you can't.
Office 2008 has an installer, it cannot just 'be copied', download is the best way to obtain an up to date copy, discs can be ordered from many retailers if preferred.
FYI
The quality on Word looks really poor as MS haven't updated it to work with the Retina Display.
I'm not sure if you have an iPad but if you do, think of when you use an iPhone app on the iPad and you have to hit the 2x button to make it go full screen. It goes all pixalated. Word is like this on the MacBook Pro with Retina Display. i hope they hurry up and update this!

Probably not any more, buy it on disc instead. I have no idea how it will look on a Retina (if that is what you have)

I actually have already purchased Office 2008 and have the disc right in from of me. The problem is that the new MB Pro w/ Retina doesn't have a disc drive. Thus, I have a disc & cd-key, but do not have a way of installing the software on my new MB currently.
Any ideas?
I had the same issue..
I followed this web link and copied the main folders onto USB, then onto my retina's application folders and it has worked fine, other then being a bit blurry..
Buy an external Superdrive, or use Remote CD (see here)
I think there is no chance that MS will update Office 2008 for the Retina display, Office 2011 is a far more likely candidate
On some Microsoft Support page [I saw it a while back] they said they weren't expecting a Retina update until early 2013. Don't take my word for it though.
Ofice 2011 has been updated to support Retina graphics and fonts. Office 2008 hasn't, and probably never will be.
