I have an ISO disk image on my Mac hard drive. (en_windows_7_professional_with_sp1_x86_dvd_631025.iso)
Has anyone had a successful experience installing Windows 7 from an ISO disk image rather than from an installer disk?
If so, what's the process?

The menu item is "Create a Windows 7 install disk". This will make your iso on your thumb drive bootable. I assume your thumb drive is formatted as a FAT. FAT32, or EXFAT so that OSx can use it.
Yes.
Move the iso file to a usb thumb drive.
Use Boot Camp Assistant to make the thumb drive bootable.
Install Windows using Boot Camp Assistant.

Today, I'm trying to use the Bootcamp Assistant! It says, after I enter my password, as it tries to download the support software, that the support software is not available!
Now what do I do?

Try again. The support software site is notoriously slow.
Bootcamp Assistant doesn't seem to give me the opportunity to create a boot disk! Any ideas now? Thanks and Cheers,

The menu item is "Create a Windows 7 install disk" is exactly what I need! But sadly, I don't have that. Is this in Bootcamp Assistant? If so, at what step is it available. That menu is not even displayed for me when I launch Bootcamp Assistant. You're obviously looking at something different than me!

First menu item below. It is the first window that opens when you start Boot Camp Assistant.
I'm running Boot Camp 3.0.4 on Mac OS 10.6.8

I'm sorry for taking you down this path. I have the most recent Boot Camp Assistant running on OSx 10.7.4.

Whew, I thought I was going over the edge there! I love it how pictures are really worth a 1,00 words!
I do so really appreciate your help, and especially the link to the threads. I've already tried to burn the *.iso to a DVD. Next step will be to see if Boot Camp Assistant does really recognize it as bootable. That's for another night!! ;-)

Yes you can , I had the same porblem and i solved it .
Ok since my mac book pro has no disk drive what i did to aquire the iso image file is .
Youll need a flash drive , a valid product key, and a PC .

here is the writen version :
first you download the exe file on a windows pc ..
choose download by creating media ..
dont worry it wont install it on the pc.
enter the product key when it ask you ..
Then it will ask you to choose from two option ..
choose create iso .. not usb .
then it will create an iso file..
put that in a usb drive ..
and transfer it to your Mac
and from there follow the instructions on boot camp ..
if you need more help let me know .. It was a pain for me ..
I even called them and no one helped me .
