Movie rental won't resume playback

I accidentaly exited a movie rental 45mins in while watching it for the first time. Now when I try to start it up it will not play. I treid starting the movie over but all I get is the blank black movie player window with the play button pushed. I restarted my computer and that didn't help. Im downloading an Itunes update not sure if this will fix it. Any Suggestions?
