My iPod Nano 6th generation is not showing up on iTunes 10.6.3 or desktop of my Mac OS 10.6.8. Please help!

I've tried everything. Went through Apple support, reset my Nano, uninstall iTunes and reinstall. All that happens when I plug in the Nano into the Mac, it just charges it. No device pick-up or anything on the desktop or iTunes. Any help is greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!
