Select a word file and use command - i to open the info pane. Select the Word Program for "open with" and set as "use as default" "Change All"

I made a mistake when I said preview was opening all my documents.

I used your advise and have word set up to open all documents but now I realize that Word is the program opening a stream of my documents when I open a Word document attached to an email.

The screen goes into a stream from left to right all the recent documents I have opened.

I would prefer to just open the document I clicked on. Thanks for your help.
