iPhone 4 - iOS 5.1.1  


Hey guys, I'm helping a buddy of mine with his phone, and he is having an issue with his iPhone where if you go to settings> iCloud> storage & back up> back up to iCloud is enabled, but back up now is greyed out. it is a valid Apple ID / iCloud account, we can update contacts, calendar's, and use the @me.com icloud mail just fine, tried toggeling iClopud back up option, no resolution. Attempted to Delete account> keep content on iphone, waited a few moments, and tried logging back in, turned everything on slowly and allowed iCloud to make the proper adjustments, and the issue stillpersists. Also reset network settings, but his iPad works just fine for creating back ups. Would anyone agree that the only other thing I can do is create a back up via iTunes and restore etc?

Ok, launch iTunes, connect your phone, do not sync, on the "Summary Pane", what is checked for iPhone backup...is there a check in the box labeled "Backup to this Computer"?

Given what you've tried, a restore would be the next logical step...everything in terms of requirements appears OK. But, before you restore, try the Express Lane: https://expresslane.apple.com/GetproductgroupList.do?PRKEYS=PL133
