Can I run OS X v10.6 on a 1.5 GHz Power PC G4?

I'm wanting to update my OS as I'm unable to install chrome and update my flash player, etc. I just noticed that the v10.6 (Snow Leopard) requires a Mac computer with an intel processor. My computer is a PowerPC G4 - will it be able to run Snow Leopard or am I out of luck? If I'm unable to update to Snow Leopard, is there any update I can do to make my computer more functional?

PowerBook, Mac OS X (10.4.11)

It can't go beyond 10.5.8.

If you are in North America, you can try calling the Main Apple store 1-800-MY-APPLE and asking for an "operating system specialist." Tell them you have an iDevice (pick one) and need 10.5 for compatibility. If it's available (may not be any longer) they will sell it to you at the regular OS retail price of US$129.

Be prepated to hear "no" when you ask about availability.

If you find 10.5 on the open market, it will almost never be at the old $129 price point and could be twice that or more, like this one:

When my nephew's MacBook internal DVD drive ate my retail Leopard Install DVD (literally cut grooves into it!), Apple sold me a replacement for something like $17 - $25.

So, one cheaper alternative is the purchase a local, used, dead Mac that contains Leopard installed from the retail DVD, from sources found on Craigslist, etc. Then call Apple for the replacement.

If Apple no longer sells replacements, you would then have to resort to internet sources for its replacement.
