Help with what? What does 'partition gone wrong' mean?
Hi there, I just tried portioning my laptops hardrive with my desk top but I believe it has gone wrong as now it has a symbol flashing on the laptop ( a folder with a question mark on it ) I really need the data off the laptop onto my desktop but am concerned I may have erased it, any help would be amazing.
From how it sounds, You may be "in" the wrong partition. Your OSX partition may still be "alive".
Hope I helped!🙂

Can you explain exactly what you did please (which machine you booted from and what you did after that).
FWIW, the flashing ? folder means your Mac cannot find the system to boot from.
Yup you have FUBARed the drive partitions. Why in the world would you use a Remote computer to partition a drive?
That is just inane. Especially if the system is in the same house.
In any event it is time to boot to the Recovery HD and Erase the Macintosh HD partition, Delete all other partition that may show up and combine them into the Macintosh HD partition then Re-Install Mac OS X.
Good Luck and Happy New Year.

Not sure the OP has a recovery partition? Their profile shows 10.5.8 (not that that means that's really what they're on........)
Thanks Babo. I didn't read all the way down.
