Jailbreaking an iphone surrenders all support from Apple or this forum.

You can try taking it to Apple.

Any warranty is void. Support from this forum is void.  Apple service is void. Take the phone back to your "friend" who effectively broke it and demand that he/she fixes it or buys you a new one.

The error may or may not be due to the fact the phone was jailbroken. Unless your "friend" changed the baseband you should be able to unjailbreak it. See this Apple tip: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3694#error3194

As you can see, that error means that iTunes could not contact the Apple activation server gs.apple.com. There are several possible reasons for this. First, your antivirus or firewall may be blocking access to Apple's server. Try disabling your security software during the update.

If your friend used your computer to jailbreak the phone the process also corrupted the network database on your computer. To fix this you need to open the hosts file and delete any lines that contain gs.apple.com. Use Notepad on Windows or Textedit on a Mac, edit the file and save it as a text file.

    Location in Windows: c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts

Location in Mac OS X: /etc/hosts

It will be a hidden file on both, so you need to show hidden files in Windows Explorer or Mac Finder, or enter its full pathname into the editor. Your account must also have administrator privileges to edit the hosts file.
