You need a wifi router Sometimes the internet provider will furnish one but sometimes you have to purchase it yourself.

No iPods has a cellular capibility. They only connect via wifi.

It might, but you're not gonna like it.

For one thing, satellite networks are SLOW.

For another thing, you will have a "cap" on how much data you can download per billing cycle. If you go over that limit, Hughes will drop your connection speed, AND you end up paying more for what you down load after you have been "capped."

In effect you end up with a very expensive device that you cannot use....

Cell data plans are very similar.

FWIW, I lived "out in the sticks" for a while and could not get any sort of high speed Internet. I tried using an "air card" from Verizon, but is was slow as molasses, and I had a 5 gig/month data cap... And at $60.00/month at that...

I looked into getting satellite Internet (there are three other sources besides Hughes) and they are all similar except for who does the installation and some of the pricing. The main short coming is the data cap. I just couldn't live with only 5 gig/month..

The reason for the cap is these services all use the same "birds," and you can pump only so much data through a transponder. So, to try to keep every one happy, the providers will "throttle back" the big users, so the small users can have "a good experience" with the service. It's really not the providers fault, its an inherent limitation of the technology. Cell data providers to the exact same thing....

Anyway, I moved closer to civilization and now I have full broadband Internet... Gott a love it...
